Autism Support

Understanding Autism. Supporting the Individual.

Intro:
Autism is different for everyone. That’s why our support is built around each individual — their routines, preferences, communication style and environment.

How we support

  • Respecting routines and structure
  • Understanding sensory needs
  • Supporting communication in ways that work
  • Providing consistent, familiar carers
  • Helping build independence with the right level of support

What matters most

We know that trust and consistency are everything. Our approach is calm, patient and built around making each person feel safe, understood and in control.

For families

We work closely with families to make sure support feels right — not just in theory, but in day-to-day life.

Daily Support

We can assist with daily routines, such as showering or taking a bath, getting dressed in the morning or getting ready for bed in the evening. We can also help with personal grooming such as shaving or brushing hair. Our carers can prepare a hot meal and a drink, provide support with medication routines, and check that their home is secure before they go to sleep at night.

Our team would also be happy to carry out any domestic tasks that need doing as well. We can clean, iron clothes, dust, do the laundry, make the bed, and vacuum the home.

In general, we provide home care services to perfectly suit the requirements of our learning disability clients. Whichever areas of their day-to-day routine they need assistance with, we can help!

Remaining Part Of The Community

Because we understand that being part of the local community is also hugely important to many people who need learning disability home care, we can join our clients when they want to go shopping, see friends and family, or take part in activities they enjoy. We can also accompany them to medical appointments; we’ll be there whenever they simply want to see a friendly face.

Because our learning disability home care services are designed to look after individual, personal, domestic and daily needs, we can free up the time of our clients and allow them to put their energy into living the rewarding life they deserve.

Training

At Blakewater Homecare, we are committed to providing the highest quality support for individuals with learning disabilities and autism. That’s why staff training is at the heart of our care philosophy. Every member of our team has completed Autism Awareness training and the Oliver McGowan training requirements, ensuring they have the knowledge and skills to offer compassionate, tailored support. We recognize that continuous learning is essential in delivering the best care, which is why some of our staff have gone even further—completing a Level 3 qualification in Understanding Autism to deepen their expertise. This advanced training equips them with a greater understanding of the unique challenges faced by individuals with autism, allowing them to provide more personalized, effective, and empathetic care. By investing in our team’s education, we ensure that every person we support receives the respect, dignity, and specialized assistance they deserve.
