Learning Disability Home Care
Supporting independence, confidence, and everyday life – in a way that works for you.
Rated GOOD by CQC • Local, trusted team • Flexible support
Everyone deserves the chance to live a life that feels their own – with the right balance of independence and support.
At Blakewater Homecare, we work alongside people with learning disabilities to make everyday life easier, more structured, and more enjoyable – in a way that suits them.
There’s no one-size-fits-all approach here. We take the time to understand the person, not just the support they need.
Before anything else, we listen.
We take time to understand routines, preferences, communication styles, and what matters most, whether that’s favourite activities, daily structure, or the people around them.
From there, we build support that fits naturally into their life, helping things feel calmer, more predictable, and more manageable.
Support with the things that matter every day
Support can look different for everyone. For some, it’s a little help to stay organised and confident. For others, it’s more regular support throughout the day. This might include:
- Help with personal care and daily routines
- Support getting ready for the day or settling in at night
- Preparing meals and drinks
- Medication support and prompts
- Help around the home, like cleaning and laundry
- Encouragement to build confidence and independence over time
- Having someone there for reassurance, structure, and consistency
Everything is done at the person’s pace, in a way that feels comfortable and respectful.
Staying connected, not cut off
Being part of the community matters.
We support people to get out and do the things they enjoy — whether that’s going shopping, attending groups, seeing friends and family, or simply getting out of the house.
Sometimes it’s about building confidence. Sometimes it’s just about having someone alongside you.
Either way, we’re there to support in a way that feels right for them.
Working alongside the right people
Good support doesn’t happen in isolation.
We work closely with families, advocates, and other professionals to make sure care is consistent and joined up.
We’re also active in local learning disability networks and regularly attend partnership meetings, helping us stay connected, informed, and aligned with best practice across the area.
That means better, more informed support for the people we care for.
A team that understands, not just assists
Our team is trained in supporting people with learning disabilities and autism, including recognised training such as Autism Awareness and the Oliver McGowan programme.
More importantly, we focus on understanding each individual, how they communicate, what helps, and what doesn’t, so support always feels respectful and consistent.
The right support can make a real difference
With the right support in place, everyday life can feel more manageable, more structured, and more positive, not just for the person receiving care, but for the people around them too.
Sometimes it’s the small things that make the biggest difference.
